Green Teens
|
The Green Teen program engages students from neighboring high schools to develop and teach interactive nature and environmental education programs for Museum visitors. This eight week summer program utilizes the service learning model combining meaningful community service with a deeper level of instruction to produce an enriched learning experience for the teens. Green Teens receive training in the Museum’s informal education theories as well as in outdoor education techniques.
The 2011 Program will run from July 5 through August 26. Staff training will be held on June 24. Green Teens are asked to commit to two days a week (noon–4:30 p.m.) throughout the eight week program. If you are a high school student and would like to participate in this year’s program, please contact Julia Pirozzi at jpirozzi@licm.org.

Join LICM’s Green Teens in Our Backyard and learn fun ways to help the environment, enjoy a variety of outdoor experiences and try your hand at cooking, crafts and other science activities.
All ages. Free with museum admission.
*In keeping with the mentoring aspect of this program, LICM education staff develops the first two weeks of programming to model appropriate hands-on activities and inquiry-based methodologies. During this time frame, the teens research, prototype and develop programs for delivery during the final six weeks of the program.
